A night of meltdown?

I just finished watching the US Open Womens Championship and congratulations to Kim! What a way to start a comeback.

Anyway, I can't believe what happened yesterday. I was not able to watch the semis since I really don't know that they were supposed to play. All the while, I thought it was gonna be today. Well, I was surprised what they keep on showing earlier...see this video if you haven't seen it yet...

I am not a professional athlete but I think I understand her. If you are that passionate about what you are doing but can't seem to pull it off when you needed it most, that must be so frustrating. I still hope she will come back winning a major soon.

And since they mentioned that she was not in the building but attending the 2009 mtv video music award, I'm watching the replay as of the moment. And again, I was surprise of this one! Did you play it? What's happening to these people??? First, Serena...then here's Kanye West. What a night of MELTDOWN!

I hope next week will be a better week for both of them. :-)

Online Shopping

Wow! I didn't realize how long it has been since the last time I was here. I might have been feeling a little better... No, I'm not sick. I didn't got sick. It's just that I don't feel like doing something for quite a while. Oh well, now that I'm back, I guess I feel like doing something :)

So, what has been keeping me busy? Nothing much, really. Only that I've been doing a lot of online shopping. I know, I am guilty. But, what can I do if the price is just so right? Especially this designer underwear! I already owned a couple of pairs of these diesel underwears and they just fit right. You don't have to worry about wedgies :). Plus zappos service is excellent!

Ok. Ok. You might think I'm only doing online shopping for undies. No. I actually buy a lot of stuff online. Because I notice that I save more that way. More bargains, more selections and you don't have to worry about encountering some unrespectful salesladies. You know how they are when they get up from the wrong side of the bed and go to work... just like any other normal person :)

Smell the change?

All these years, I always believe that if somebody looks good, he feels good, and he smells good. I mean, what else could go wrong? That's always the case, right? Or probably just in mine and my husbands case? Hmmm...

And speaking of smell, who doesn't want to smell good around everybody? Nobody does! Especially my husband. He would never leave the house without spraying his favorite perfume on. He actually has a scent for every occassion. I know it sounds self indulgent or whatever you call it, but it actually makes sense if you think about it. For him, it's just like dressing up for the right place at the right time. I hope it makes sense to you as it does to me.

I know what you are thinking -the price. You know what, if you do it like my husband does, you can actually save more. Because you don't use the same perfume all the time. You always have a selection. Plus, there are a lot of bargains online if you search for it.

And since summer is just around the corner, don't you think it's time to change your smell?

It's been like forever since my last post. It's just that we've been very busy fixing and re-arranging things around the house. It will be our 2nd year living here in a couple of weeks and yet, we haven't been able to change some of the things that we said we are gonna change. We still have a long list to go!

But I'm glad hubby had already started re-constructing our garage door. He also had to change the lightings since the one we previously had is too bright, that we thought it consumes a lot of electricity. So, that's 2 out from our list :)

Speaking of buying new things for a change, at these day and age, I know you too are aware that you can buy everything online. And it always feels good if you can find all what you need in one place. It's a big plus if such site offers more products from various stores, right? This way, you can always get a better deal and save more. Just like shopwiki.com. For example, you need a new hanging lamp to compliment your new oriental rug, or probably your table lamp or desk lamp need an update. And in buying these lamps, you also have to take into consideration your bulb options, whether it is energy saver or not. Shopwiki.com has a lot to offer. It revolutionizes online shopping by finding all the stores in the internet. Isn't that nice? You don't need to drive around to look for something anymore. You can search for anything and everything at the comfort of your home!

I have to go to continue my re-arranging of things around here. We don't have that much stuff but I still have to re-arrange things to make space for the new stuff I'm expecting to arrive soon...

Yep! It's our Labor Day Holiday today that's why I'm home all day. And what I did? Nothing much really. I just filled up this little book of mine with addresses and phone numbers. Finally, I had time to put all my important numbers in one book instead of having it written in a post-it note and stick everywhere :)

Isn't she cute? I had this little thingie for over a year now and I just had it filled with something! She might be glad for serving it's purpose now ;)

It's still hot! Still summer! Though it rains occasionally that helps the grass and weeds grow faster and taller, which is good. It means less dust for me. Grass and weeds hold them to the ground where they really belong. Not in my not-so-big-semi-flat-nose :)

Days have been passing by quickly. At least that’s how I feel. August is almost over and September is a few days away. I’m excited for January to come. A few weeks more to go! Ha! Ha!

Oh by the way, I just took this picture a couple of minutes ago. While I was sitting in bed with my laptop on my lap, I noticed this orange glare by the window…

Isn’t it amazing? Looks like something is burning up there! Hmmm....

Lazy

Yes, that's how I've been lately. Lazy. I don't feel like doing anything. When I get home from work, I feel so tired that I wanted to take a nap before I can even change. I don't understand it co'z I didn't have that much to do at work. Hmmm... Probably that's one reason? Is it because I'm bored? Or probably becuase it's just too hot for the last few days? I guess that's what it is. Yeah, I guess that's the real reason. Imagine getting in your car with a 117 Degrees Farenheight at 5 o'clock in the afternoon! I feel like I'm being grilled inside. I just crack the window a little bit co'z it's dusty outside and dust makes me sick and I don't want to have runny nose in the middle of the summer! Ahhh... It's hard to be alive isn't it? :)

--This experience makes me wish I'm back in the Philippines. Why? Because in the Philippines, I don't own a car so, I don't have to worry about driving a hot car. Taxi is everywhere that when I get in one, it's cool inside and I just have to tell the driver my destination. I don't have to worry about traffic, it's the taxi drivers problem - if I have an appointment, I just have to alot an hour or two on the road. I don't have to worry about parking - I hate lateral parking-, because he will just drop me off to the place I told him to - that is if the driver is not twisted. Or, I can always choose to ride a jeepney or bus or LRT/MRT whenever I'm in a hurry so I don't have to worry about over speeding. --

Oh well... There's no turning back now. Lazy it is, alright. I wish it's already fall... and fall season all the time...

Now, that's makes me feel like I'm human again :))

Everytime our schedules met, we usually find time to stop by at our neighborhood DQ to have a cone of vanilla ice cream and eat it at their parking lot while watching people go by. DH used to eat his slowly (left) while I tend to eat mine like biting a bar of chocolate! Just look at how it looks (right)! And what usually happens is, I ended up supporting his so it won't fall down on his lap and make a mess :)

Just some updates

And so, I got a couple of calls for interview. But I guess those jobs are not really for me for the interview date was while we were in the middle of our roadtrip.

We started ripping the road after I got out of the office on the 30th of May and came back on the 11th of June. It was short because I didn't have enough VL left, but we covered a lot of areas and meet a lot of people. We stopped at Kansas City to watch Drag Racing, St. Louis to watch a baseball game, Arkansas to visit relatives and friends, then back home thru Oklahoma. In short, we made a big circle. We didn't fly. We don't want to experience the hassle of flying again. We drove. And we saved a lot! We spent almost $600 (only) on gas. Nothing can beat that. We are in the comfort of our vehicle and we can stop whenever we want. I guess I can say that we had a lot of fun!

And since I came back, I've been very busy. At work, that is. It's good though. At least I'm working. My brain is working and I'm not being wasted.

By the way, I just talked to my sister yesterday. She sounded really good! Which is nice. She was able to recover really quick, to the delight of her doctors and the whole family. She'll have her next session by the end of this month. I hope she'll fight with it like the last one. Thank you all very much for your prayers!

A plea for my sister

Yesterday I slept like I have never slept for years. Now, I just don't feel like closing my eyes at all. Though inside, I feel tired. I have been feeling this way since my sister had her 1st session of chemotherapy.

If you still don't know, my older sister was diagnosed for having some kind of tumor on her breast 7 months ago, and she just had her 2nd chemo session on the 10th of this month. And there will be 4 sessions more. The last time I talked to her, she told me that her hair started to fall out, so the reader that I am, I advised her to shave it off. And she had it done. She don't need to see hairs on her pillow every morning and feel pity for herself. She needs all the strenght she has to fight the battle.

I've been reading a lot about chemotherapy effects and through it, I can feel how she is feeling right now. I just hope she'll remain brave and won't give up. I know she won't. I know she has this inner strenght that we don't have. But you know how it is sometimes, no matter how strong or brave you are, there's a point when you feel like you just don't have it. So please, whoever you are reading this right now, please help us pray for my sister? Please?

Hello there! :)

How's everybody doing?

So, I haven't been feeling good lately. I missed home. A lot. But I think I did something good! Why? Because during those days of feeling blah, I visited monster and cbuilder and applied to all the jobs advertised in our area that I feel like I can do and guess what??? Our phone has been ringing off the hook! That is, while I'm at work and my Dear Husband is trying to get some sleep. Poor him. But anyway, those who sent me emails, I already replied. While those who are just trying to catch me home (they probably need somebody to talk to, don't you think?), are still trying :)).

It's not that I don't like what I'm doing right now, it's just that I want to explore. I'd like to go on an interview and see what these 'curious' people want to know (probably about me) and I want to see too what they know about what they're doing. Just kidding! Actually, I just want to meet people. Those sensible ones. Those whom I can talk about business and stuff. It's not that I'm currently working with the not so sensible ones, it's just that it feels different. Everybody's actually nice (probably because they always comes to me for help) and friendly.

Oh well, the Curious Georgette in me is just probably at work these days co'z I really can't see me leaving my workplace right now. It's less than 15minutes drive from home, very convenient. I don't have to rush every morning, getting-up time is 630am, drives off at 740am, at my desk at exactly 800am, leaves around 510pm. Leaving at 600pm is very late already. And... I get paid every 15th and 30th day of the month!

Hmmm... We'll see what's going to happen next on my being a Curious Georgette...

DH meet some friends who fly that kind of thing, and last Saturday, they invited us to watch them how they do it! It was a 20 minute walk from the parking lot to their launching ground and I'm almost out of air when we reach the top. After a few minutes of being there, I feel like my fear of height was gone as I'm excited to try it... just in my mind! :P

Just so you know....

Some things are beyond planning. And life doesn't always turn out as planned.

You don't plan for a broken heart.

You don't plan for a failed business venture.

You don't plan for an adulterous husband.

You don't plan for an autistic child.You don't plan for spinsterhood.

Sometimes if you work hard enough, you can get what you want.

But most times, what you want and what you get are two different things.

We, mortals, plan but so does God in the heavens. Sometimes, it is difficult to understand God's plans – especially when His plans are not in consonance with ours. Often, when God sends us crisis, we turn to Him in anger.

True, we cannot choose the cross that God wishes us to carry but we can carry that cross with courage knowing that God will never abandon us nor send something we cannot cope with.

Sometimes, God breaks our spirit to save our soul.

Sometimes, He breaks our heart to make us whole.

Sometimes, God sends us pain so we can be stronger.

Sometimes, God sends us failure so we can be humble.

Sometimes God sends us illness so we can take better care of ourselves.

Sometimes, God takes everything away from us so we can learn the value of everything He gave us.

Make plans but understand that we live by God's grace.

Personally, nothing much. Professionally, A LOT. And when I say 'a lot', there's really much going on at work! It's budget season for us, plus our year-end closing! Accountants, you know what I'm talking about. It would have been nice if everything is in place. I mean, if all we have to do is plug-in the numbers, click this and that, and viola! But, NO! We have to start from scratch since the person in charge before don't really care --I guess. Oh well... That's probably one reason why I has hired. =)

Hopefully, everything will just be alright.

Happiness is not found outside of you. It doesn't come from cars, clothes, cash, or Caribbean cruises. Happiness is found within. But how can you find it if you don't have the simplicity of time and space to discover the most important things in your life? How can you search the depths of your soul if you are too busy impressing others, acquiring wealth, protecting your properties and paying your debts? Simplicity is not about the externals either: living in a dog house, eating in a Hepatitis joint, wearing rags.

Let me define what it is: Simplicity is living from the core of your being.

Simplicity will point to you where and what and who the gold is in your life.

LESSONS ON SIMPLE LIVING

1) LIVE ON LESS, AND DELIGHT IN THEM MORE
Some take their pleasure dining in classy restaurants,trips to Europe, and owning the latest home-theatre equipment. I've chosen the simple path: If I can simply be with my wife, or take a quiet stroll under a canopy ofstars, or play with a child, or read a good book in my home, or laugh with friends overpizza, I consider myself richly blessed.

2) STOP RUNNING AND WALK INSTEAD

Here's the truth: The person who has covered the greatestdistance does NOT win, but the one who has most enjoyed the journey does. Stop running around chasing your own tail! Get off your harried pace and learn to breathe. Replace doing with being. Learn to say "no" to invitations, appointments, commitments, activities and events that will rob you of your focus. Learn to say "yes" to rest, to tranquility, to quietness.

3) YOU ARE MORE THAN YOUR WEALTH

I own very few things today. Because I am more than thebrand of my watch, the logo of my shoes, the name of my car. I believe that if in my soul I deeply respect and value myself, people around me will sense that, and they,too, will value and respect me - whether I'm wearing Armani or not. You are more than your wealth.

4) AVOID BUYING ON CREDIT
I don't believe in borrowing from credit cards. (For convenience, I use one card but I pay the whole amount at the end of each month.) If Ineed something really bad, I save up for it. Sometimes, at midpoint, I realize I don'treally need the darn thing and give up the whole idea. The only exception I feel we should enter into credit is when buying a non-depreciating item, such as housing or land. I believe we should always live within our earning capacity.

Proverbs 22:7 says, "Those who borrow are slaves of moneylenders."

5) GIVE AS MUCH AS YOU CAN
If I content myself with a Php250 shirt instead of a P4,000 Lacoste, I can help others more. Tust me, there's immense pleasure! You'll find thatthe empty thrill of owning a diamond ring on your finger pales in comparison to the joy of handling a piece of bread to an orphan child. "And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work." (2Corinthians 9:8)

6) SAVE AS MUCH AS YOU CAN
Saving is essential to being good stewards of the moneythat God "lends" to us. Saving is an important way of providing for our future -both for our needs and to be generous to others. I recommend that you save at least10% of your income. I can almost hear you now: "Bo, that's impossible!" Oh yeah? Well, how did you live three years back, when your salary was one-half its present amount?

Sacrifice. Many of our needs are actually wants. Is cableTV a need? Will you suddenly die if you can't watch CNN or HBO? Are those new golf clubs essential to your existence? Invest in time deposits, long-term stocks, and housing.

7) BUDGET, BUDGET, BUDGET!
Make a list of all your monthly expenses according tocategories. Make also a list of irregular expenses - those that don't come monthly.(e.g., car insurance, medical expenses, house repairs, etc.) Set up another savings account for these expenses and put in a little money each month. To differentiate this from the savings account, we call ours "freedom account," because it frees us from worrying about them when they suddenly attack. (We got this idea from the Financially Confident Woman by Mary Hunt.) And stick to your budget!

ONE LAST WORD...

Balance. Don't take living simply to the extremes! Livingsimply doesn't mean living in deprivation. There are special days when my wife and I eat in a fancy restaurant. Or when we splurge on a vacation. Very rare, yes, but my point is that you take living simply NOT as a rigid goal - but as a happy process towards the goals of generosity, inner peace and holiness.

La-La-La-La-La...

Yep! Finally, after a couple of days and nights playing with my keyboard, I'm beginning to like what I'm seeing. It took me a while to figure out everything, but it's worth my time and effort.

Now, I can concentrate on the contents. I actually don't know where and how to start, or even what to write --that's why I joined the community you can see on my side bar. I confess, I'm not really into "writing". And so you might be wondering why did I bother to create this one? The answer: Just because... --with a smile. And as I've said, almost everybody has a blog already. I'm just now glad to have one. And besides, we have a wireless connection, so why not make the most out of it, right?

And what's with the name? Just because everything else that I can think of was already taken and it just so happen that the one I have right now is still available. Plain and simple.

Wish me luck on this new journey.

While living in Alaska, we've encountered a lot of creatures and this is one of them... We named her Foxanne. She looks so skinny during summer that you want to feed her breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday.

And she's not shy either... Here, she pose for posterity :).

Noticed how the color of her tail changed? We think that her color changes when the weather change, too... That's only our guess because none of us are experts on this one ;).

Ok... So, it's been a week since I created this space. What's new? Nothing. I still can't figure out how to add more links on my sidebar. No problem with the widgets though. It's probably the template I'm using? Hmm... I got to find a new one. And I mean, I want a nice one. An elegant one and not just like any other templates. Anybody knows where to find one? I'm pretty clever in arranging-rearranging those...errrr, I take that back, I forgot, I can't even figure this one out. I'm probably halucinating :P

Oh well... I'll try to work on my template again this weekend and we'll see what it's gonna come out to. If somebody can direct me to a friendly place where to get a nice template, that would really be appreciated. And of course, it should be FREE! =)
